Whiplash

Whiplash physio in Derry

Neck pain, stiffness or headaches after a road traffic accident or sudden jolt? Physiotherapy can help you recover and get back to normal.

Recovering after a car accident.

Whiplash happens when the neck is suddenly jolted forwards and backwards — most often in a car accident, but also from falls or sport. It can cause neck pain and stiffness, headaches, shoulder pain and sometimes pain or tingling in the arms.

Most people recover well with the right advice and treatment. Liam will assess your neck, explain what’s going on, and guide you back to full, comfortable movement.

If your treatment is part of an insurance or legal claim, just let Liam know when you book.

How soon after an accident can I start physio?

Once you’ve been checked by a doctor or A&E if needed, it’s usually helpful to start physiotherapy early. Keeping gently active tends to help recovery.

Should I wear a neck collar?

Collars aren’t usually recommended for whiplash. Gentle movement generally helps the neck recover better.

Can you help if the accident was a while ago?

Yes. Physiotherapy can still help with ongoing neck pain and stiffness months after an injury.
